AC Milan Signal Intent With Dominant Derby Win Over Inter

The Milan derby lived up to its billing yesterday, but it was AC Milan who walked away as emphatic winners, dismantling Inter 3–0 in a statement performance. For Stefano Pioli’s men, the victory was about more than local bragging rights — it was a declaration of their title ambitions.

From the opening whistle, Milan pressed aggressively, forcing Inter into mistakes in their own half. Rafael Leão, in inspired form, tormented defenders with his pace and skill. It was Leão who opened the scoring, cutting inside from the left and curling a spectacular shot into the top corner.

Inter tried to respond, but Milan’s midfield trio of Sandro Tonali, Tijjani Reijnders, and Ismaël Bennacer controlled the tempo, winning duels and launching swift transitions. Before halftime, Olivier Giroud doubled Milan’s lead with a poacher’s finish after a clever pass from Christian Pulisic.

The second half saw Inter push forward, but their attempts were met with resilience from Milan’s defense, anchored by Fikayo Tomori. A third goal came late, with Pulisic capping his excellent display by firing home after another flowing move.

The San Siro erupted, with Milan fans savoring one of the club’s most commanding derby performances in recent memory. For Inter, the defeat was humbling, exposing defensive weaknesses and raising questions about squad depth.

Milan’s win places them firmly in the Scudetto race. With Leão at his brilliant best, Giroud proving reliable, and Pulisic settling quickly, the Rossoneri look like genuine contenders. If they maintain this intensity, Milan could turn this derby triumph into the springboard for a championship push.
